My name is Rachel Antomattei and I joined KLIK as a Digital Marketing Coordinator in December 2019. I graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park in May 2018 with a Civil Engineering degree and a minor in Construction Project Management. Prior to KLIK, I was in the construction industry full-time for over a year, with two summer internships in construction as well.
Construction is a tough industry to break into, especially as a young woman. The workforce is generally composed of much older men who constantly tell you that “this is the way it’s always been done.” Innovation was not encouraged as much as I’d hoped and I grew frustrated with the lack of willingness to explore and try new things.
In college, I was in an Entrepreneurship and Innovation program which brought together students of all different majors and backgrounds to develop solutions to complex business problems. Remembering this experience as well as my love for numbers, I began attending free digital marketing and data analysis intro courses to try to figure out what exactly would spark my interest. From there, I spent hours researching ad agencies in Washington, DC.
Discovering KLIK felt like a breath of fresh air.
KLIK is young, passionate, and driven. KLIK challenges you, but provides you with adequate resources to ensure your success. KLIK is constantly looking for new ways to improve – whether it’s hiring, training, strategy, software, or even just company culture. KLIK encourages you to think outside the box and take initiative, even if it’s only your second day.
Changing careers can be scary, but looking back, making the decision to join KLIK was one of the best I’ve made. The flexibility, personality, and energy of a startup is unmatched. Every single person is willing to help you learn and grow and truly believes in the vision of the company. With a team like this, I know we’re on our way to becoming the best ad agency in the DC area.
