My name is Alyssa Saltus and I joined KLIK as a Digital Marketing Coordinator in April 2021. I graduated from the University of Virginia in May of 2020 with a degree in Economics and a minor in Entrepreneurship. After graduation, I moved to Alexandria, Virginia, with my husband and I really enjoy it here.
I graduated at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and, like many of my peers, it was a bit daunting to leave the safety net of college in such a time of uncertainty. Many companies had stopped hiring completely, and I had my initial job offer rescinded due to the pandemic. From my previous college experiences, I knew that I wanted to pursue a career in marketing or management, so I continued to apply to relevant positions. Eventually, I was accepted into a management development program at a large insurance company. Here, I specialized in auto insurance claims. I learned a lot from this role, and it expanded my managerial, customer service, investigative, and critical thinking skills! But, after a few months, I realized that auto insurance did not align with my long-term career goals. After a lot of reflection on my previous college internships and experiences, I decided to pursue a career in the ever-changing field of digital marketing.
When I discovered KLIK online, it instantly felt like the right fit for me. After exploring KLIK’s website and reading the company blog, I was immediately attracted to the culture and values of the organization. I appreciated the data-driven and revenue-centric approach that KLIK offers its clients. Since I was an Economics major in college, I was specifically looking for positions where I could utilize and expand my analytical skills. In addition, I was drawn to the energetic, start-up culture of the company, where both collaboration and innovation are required. Throughout the interview process, the team was very responsive and welcoming. It was obvious that they were excited and passionate about coming to work each day.
The transition from insurance to the digital marketing space was challenging, but the KLIK team has been supportive and encouraging from day one. In the past six months, I have already learned more than I could have ever imagined. I appreciate being a part of a work culture that continuously pushes me to grow! It is also refreshing to belong to a company that cares for each individual both professionally and personally, for work-life balance and mentorship are prioritized daily. No day is ever the same at KLIK, and in the past six months, I have already seen the company go through some exciting periods of growth—from acquiring new team members to offering additional services to clients. This is a very exciting time for KLIK, and I look forward to how the company will continue to evolve in the future!
